Sorry Star Trek fans this post is not for you! Instead The Final Frontier is the name of the Word tour of seminal heavy metal rock band Iron Maiden.
The band will be livening up the area of Don valley near our Sheffield hotel when the The Final Frontier show drops in to Sheffield on 24th July. The band will be playing some songs from their new and recent albums. Of course a band with such a rich history wont be leaving out their older material too, having many classics in their discography to please die hard older fans.
The 25 gig World tour runs from February till August covering Stadiums, Arena’s & many festivals with the final gig at the London O2. Steve Harris is quoted as saying he feels the band haven’t toured enough in the UK in the last five years and the band is keen to get out and play for the home fans. The band are enjoying a resurgence in popularity in recent times with a new compilation album ‘From Fear To Eternity: The Best Of 1990-2010′. which as the title suggests features songs covering 20 years. Released by EMI the album cover features as always the bands mascot ‘Eddie’.
The band will be supported at the Motorpoint Arena by a Australian rock band Airbourne, who hail from Warrnambool in Victoria, Auz.
Heavy metal fans needing Sheffield cheap hotel rooms could pop along to the Sheffield Hotel near the Motorpoint arena.
